Urgent Care Q&A

What is urgent care?

Urgent care offers outpatient care that treats timely acute or chronic illness or injury. An urgent care appointment is a convenient option for you and your family if you can’t make a timely appointment with your primary care physician.

Hospital emergency rooms can be expensive, and you often wait hours before seeing a doctor. CB's NP Health Services urgent care providers work to see you swiftly and provide expert, immediate care.

What can an urgent care visit treat?

Sometimes you or a family member need health support and can’t wait over 24 hours. As long as your health concern would not result in worsening a disability or death, you can seek urgent care services. Some of the urgent conditions CB’s NP Health Services treats include:

  • UTIs (urinary tract infections) and vaginitis
  • Dehydration and nausea
  • Vomiting and diarrhea
  • Cuts (that don’t require stitches)
  • Asthma
  • Falls, sprains, or strains
  • Skin infections or rashes
  • Flu
  • Fever
  • Ear infection
  • Sinusitis
  • Strep or sore throat
  • Styes or pink eye
  • Minor bone breaks or fractures
  • Allergic reaction

If you or a loved one are experiencing a heart attack or stroke, it’s vital to head directly to an emergency room.

What happens during an urgent care visit?

When you arrive at CB’s NP Health Services, have your identification and insurance card ready. The practice can also see you for an urgent care visit if you don’t have insurance.

During your visit, you should inform your provider about the specific problem and your or your child’s symptoms. You should walk them through all the steps of how the injury happened, when symptoms began, or current underlying chronic conditions.

Your provider will discuss any medications you or your child is taking as well as your family history.

You can expect your provider to take you or your child’s vitals, examine the injury site, recommend x-rays, blood tests, or perform an electrocardiogram (EKG).

Once your provider has finished the exam, they can diagnose your health concern and work with you to develop a treatment plan or prescribe medication. Your provider may refer you to an outside provider if you need surgery or specialized treatment.

If you’re interested in hearing more about urgent care services, call CB's NP Health Services, or visit the office today if you need immediate care. You can also request an appointment online.
